Lake Stevens 50, Snohomish 46
LAKE STEVENS — The Vikings (1-1) leveraged a strong third quarter to earn their first win of the campaign, taking down the Panthers (0-3) at home. Lake Stevens was able to break a 20-20 halftime tie with a 15-7 third-quarter push, later staving off a late Snohomish comeback in the fourth. Junior Daniel Ngezaho scored a game-high 19 points and made three of Lake Stevens’ five 3s while sophomore Devin Freeman put together a 15-point game for the Vikings. For Snohomish, Junior forward Hudson Smith (15) and Sophomore forward Deyton Wheat (14) combined for 29.
Cascade 51, Lynnwood 47
EVERETT — The Bruins (1-1) earned their first win of the season by downing the Royals (0-2) in a four-quarter battle. After taking a seven-point lead at the half, Cascade spent the final two stanzas holding off a fierce Lynnwood comeback. Cascade Senior Brandon Lagutang led the team with 13 points, hitting crucial free throws in the waning moments to give the Bruins a four-point cushion. Meanwhile, Lynnwood Junior Hosny El-Aarag posted a game-high 15 points in the comeback effort. The win marked Cascade head coach Chris Gordon’s first win against his alma mater in Lynnwood.
Kamiak 66, Everett 49
MUKILTEO — The Knights (1-1) won their home opener against the Seagulls (0-2) thanks to some solid 3-point shooting. Junior guard Max Christiansen scored a game-high 20 points and knocked in three of his team’s nine 3-pointers on the evening. Sophomore guard Grady Rohrich contributed 17 points for Kamiak and the Knights cruised to a 17-point lead at half — a lead that wouldn’t budge by the final buzzer. Everett Senior Noah Parker contributed a team-high 14 points in the loss.
Arlington 55, Shorewood 33
ARLINGTON — The Eagles (2-0) cruised to a win over the Stormrays (1-2) thanks in part to a well-rounded performance from senior guard Leyton Martin. Martin posted 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists — all team-highs. Senior forward Billy Kooy contributed 14 points and five boards. Senior guard Evan Butler led Shorewood with 10 points in the loss.
Edmonds-Woodway 53, Ferndale 38
EDMONDS — The Warriors (1-0) won their season-opener at home against the Golden Eagles (1-2). Edmonds-Woodway was led by Senior guard Cam Hiatt, who had 16 points, while Ferdale’s Mantaj Singh scored a game-high 19.
