Find peaceful solution between Russia and Ukraine

When I was growing up in Seattle years ago I can remember mostly left-wingers defending Russian leaders and the Soviet system. I think a lot of people admired the Russians for being a major actor in the defeat of the Nazis. Others believed the propaganda about the workers’ paradise. Russia always did have good propaganda.

It looks like some Americans now are also looking for reasons to support the Russian side of things. I have mixed feelings. On one side nobody wants a war with anybody if we can help it, but on the other side it sure does look like a whole lot of countries that border Russia are afraid of being swallowed up by Putin.

A lot of my family were Irish and knew what it was like to be dominated by a much more powerful neighbor so I suppose it makes me a bit more sympathetic to smaller countries.

Americans love an underdog!
