Train collision temporarily disrupts Edmonds ferry service

EVERETT — One person sustained minor injuries in a vehicle versus train collision Tuesday afternoon in front of the Edmonds Ferry Terminal.

Around 11:42 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to reports of a train crashing into the front of a white Toyota Camry that extended into the railroad crossing, according to Edmonds Police Department spokesperson Josh McClure. The collision blocked Main Street and Dayton Street for around an hour.

In a post on X at 12:22 p.m., Washington State Ferries said the Edmonds-Kingston ferry route will remain out of service until the train is cleared.

At 12:47 p.m., officers reopened the roads, and the train resumed its route.

First responders transported the victim to the Swedish Edmonds Campus for undisclosed injuries.

This is the second incident involving trains along the Edmonds waterfront this year. On June 15, a BNSF train fatally struck a pedestrian near the 900 block of Cary Road. That also blocked ferry access for more than two hours.
