EVERETT — A man died after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning on Highway 99 just south of Manor Way in Everett.

Around 2:39 a.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near milepost 51, according to a Washington State Patrol press release. The driver of a 2012 Dodge Ram was traveling north on Highway 99 in lane one when his vehicle hit the victim, who came to rest on the right shoulder.

First responders pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene and have yet to identify him, the release said.

Around 3:09 a.m., Washington State Patrol spokesperson Kelsey Harding said on social media the northbound lanes were blocked due to the collision. Around four hours later, law enforcement reopened the roadway.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
