HeraldNet app allows me to keep up with news

Published 1:30 am Tuesday, February 7, 2023

First I was pretty miffed. I’m 76, my wife says I’m a borderline curmudgeon. I’ve read the morning paper for five decades, so it’s been about as bad as breaking a lifelong smoking habit. I’m also not half as tech savvy as my granddaughter, but using the new HeraldNet phone app was such a breeze that I’ve settled in to the new way to get my news.

Despite the groans of all the laid-off carriers, I have come to appreciate not having to search the weeds and gutters in the rain for a soggy paper. I shall join the 21st century and embrace the new method of getting my prescribed dose of daily information. I still need my hard truth fix from Tom Burke and Sid Schwab. I need to know new facts about why there is so little basis for fear of a methadone clinic near a Boys and Girls Club.

Journalism will always be a vital educator in a free-speech country.

Nothing is ever perfect. We just have to keep trying. Thanks, Daily Herald, for doing your part. May we never lose you.
