The Boeing Co. and Qatar Airways announced a deal for five 777s, the companies said Wednesday.
The order includes three 777 Freighters and two 777-300 Extended Range jets. The order is worth $1.4 billion at list prices.
The order for freighters was added to Boeing’s tally last year and attributed to an undisclosed customer. The order for 777-300ERs is listed under an undisclosed customer on Boeing’s 2011 orders Web site.
“Qatar Airways has made a significant commitment to the 777, an airplane which has become the flagship of our fleet,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar’s CEO. “The capacity of the Boeing 777 Freighter is unrivaled and its economics make it an attractive addition to our fleet.”
