“Oh no, here comes the dim sum cart and everything looks good and I don’t know what’s in half of them so maybe I’ll just try everything except, oh boy, I hope I don’t get the duck feet.”

If you’ve ever suffered from such dim sum panic, welcome “Dim Sum: A Pocket Guide” by Kit Shan Li, a tiny picture guide that takes the guesswork out of the delectable contents on those little plates at a Chinese restaurant.

Each page pictures a single dim sum and includes its name in English and in Chinese, its pronunciation and ingredients. You’ll never again choose a fish ball thinking it’s a pork bun.

It’s $7.95; available at some bookstores and online.

Got Milk? and Seventeen magazine seeks entries for the eighth annual Milk Mustache photo contest.

One teen will win the 2004 “Milk’s Secret to Success” photo contest and receive a fantasy trip to New York City where she will receive star treatment at a professional photo shoot for her own Seventeen magazine Milk Mustache ad, along with $1,000.

The competition calls on teen girls to show their creativity and commitment to eating right by donning a milk mustache.

Entrants must submit an original picture of themselves wearing a white milk mustache and a caption explaining how nutrient-rich milk has been the secret to their success.

Also, Seventeen is adding an online voting component to the competition. Three finalists will be selected and voted on by teens throughout the country. Online voting runs May 17 to June 7 and a winner will be chosen by June 9.

Complete contest rules can be found in Seventeen magazine’s May issue or at www.whymilk.com.
