This is the third-annual kitchen tour presented by the Whidbey Island branch of the American Association of University Women. Proceeds support educational projects and scholarships for the young women of Whidbey Island.

• Things to do now in the food garden, 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 12; $20 or $25 per couple. This Growing Groceries workshop covers how to pick vegetables and fruit at their peak ripeness, and what can be planted now for a fall garden. Get gardening questions answered and pests identified by WSU Snohomish County Master Gardener and Growing Groceries volunteers. Bring samples of sick plants and bugs that need to be identified. Plant clinics
Got a gardening question? Consult a local master gardener at a public plant clinic. If you have a plant with a problem or disease, bring in a fresh plant sample that, if possible, includes the diseased area, a transition area and a healthy area. Photos are also helpful.
