Wine and baseball don’t often get together.
The Chateau Ste. Michelle winery is about to change that, however, with the release of Junior 600, a limited-edition labeling of its Ethos 2005 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to commemorate Ken Griffey Jr.’s 600th home run, which he hit in June 2008 while with the Cincinnati Reds.
Seattle Children’s hospital, the Ken Griffey Jr. Family Foundation and other local charities will benefit from the sale of 600 autographed bottles, priced at $250 each.
Call 206-987-2837 to place an order through Saturday. Wine will be available for pickup after Monday at Seattle Children’s Foundation offices at 6901 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle. Shipping is not available.
There will also be a Junior 600 Night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Safeco Field in Seattle. Meet Griffey, enjoy wine and food and bid on auction items, including autographed memorabilia from Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods and Ken Griffey Jr. Tickets are $350 and include an autographed bottle of Junior 600.
