Clean up your act: You know you promised yourself just three weeks ago to get better organized in 2010. A pro at it, Maulitta Brown, will teach you how to declutter your home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mill Creek Library.

You can register for this free event at www.sno-isle.org or call 425-337-4822. The Mill Creek Library is at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway.

In stitches: Mary Hickey, local quilter and author, will talk about her books, “Warm Welcome: Cozy Quilts for Baby” ($26.99) and “Comfort and Joy: 14 Quilts for Christmas” ($27.95), at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lake Stevens Library. Perhaps if you start now, a quilt could be completed by Christmas.

The Lake Stevens Library is at 1804 Main St. Call 425-334-1900 or check www.sno-isle.org for more information.

Baby steps: Local author Shari Storm, mother of three, applies her skills as a parent in the corporate world. Storm will talk about her theories and sign her book, “Motherhood is the New MBA: Using Your Parenting Skills to Be a Better Boss” (23.99), from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds Bookshop.

Storm is an executive at a financial institution and teaches at the University of Washington Experimental College.

Her talk is one of the events at Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk. The Edmonds Bookshop is at 111 Fifth Ave. S. Call 425-775-2789 or go to www.edmondsbookshop.com for other bookstore events.

Keep on smiling: TV news and sports commentator Tony Ventrella draws from his experiences as an inspirational speaker for his books: “Smile in the Mirror: Let Your Light Shine” ($24.98) and the latest, “Smile in the Mirror: Dad Was Right, So Was Mom.”

Ventrella will give one of his pep talks and introduce the “Smile” sequel at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Third Place Books.

Third Place Books is at 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park. Call 206-366-3333 or go to www.thirdplacebooks.com.
