Theater, dance and comedy shows around Snohomish County

THEATER

Phoenix Theatre: 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000; www.tptedmonds.org. Opening Oct. 1 is “The Miser,” Molière’s five-act comedy. The cheapskate Monsieur Harpagon would rather marry off both his children than part with a cent. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors, military.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org.Agatha Christie’s murder mystery “And Then There Were None” opens Oct. 18. Ten guests are invited to a remote island for a weekend house party. There is a murderer among them. One by one, the guests are killed. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for seniors, students and military.

Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org; 425-774-9600. “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, ” based on the 1946 Christmas film starring Jimmy Stewart, opens Nov. 29. George Bailey has so many problems, he is thinking about ending his life on Christmas Eve. His guardian angel intervenes to earn his wings. Ticket prices not yet listed.

Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600; www.villagetheatre.org/everett. The 2022 season includes: Songs for a New World,” “The Book Club Play,” “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Raisin.” Season tickets for all four shows are $104-$312.

COMEDY

Comedy Garage: A weekly comedy showcase and open mic held Mondays at Tony V’s Garage, 1716 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Features regional comedians working out their longer sets and local amateurs trying new material. The headliner for the Sept. 27 show is Kate Carlson Carlsen. No cover. All ages. Marysville Opera House: The Ladies LOL! Comedy Show is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St., Marysville. Featuring stand-up by Monica Nevi and Erin Ingle, followed by a Seattle’s Comedy Sportz improv comedy. Tickets are $40, including appetizers and a dessert. Wine and beer available for purchase. DANCE

Catapult: The dance company that specializes in shadow illusion, best known for their time on the hit show “America’s Got Talent,” performs at noon and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. Dancers working behind a screen to create shadow silhouettes of shapes from the world around us. Watch their bodies transform into a mountain, an elephant, a dragon and even a helicopter, and travel the world from Paris to Beijing in less than 10 minutes. Tickets are $10. Call 425-275-9595.
