When it comes to covering a patio or deck, the big question seems to be whether or not the new shelter will throw the house into darkness.
This is not the case with American Patio Covers Plus.
The Marysville business makes covers that allow light to come through.
“People are used to the standard aluminum,” said Brian Matthew, production and operations manager. “We’ve been doing this for over 20 years.”
The Marysville location is the company’s manufacturing facility and not a showroom, but customers can drop by or call and have someone come to their home for an estimate on covers for decks, patios and hot tubs and for free-standing covers.
“No charge. No obligation,” Matthew said.
The company’s presence at the Everett Home and Garden Show will allow potential customers to ask questions about the patio covers and to see one.
“They will be walking underneath one of our roofs,” Matthew said.
Because American Patio Covers Plus installs their custom-fit product, they don’t supply kits with instructions for putting them together.
“We like to see the actual situation to use our expertise and see what’s needed,” Matthew said. “No two are alike.”
The covers are made from materials such as aluminum and acrylic sheets and paneling. They are available in several colors and several styles, such as the shed style, gable style, second-story style and free standing.
“They are not inexpensive tin,” Matthew said.
All the patio covers are designed to be maintenance free and are not retractable.
While the covers allow some light through, they block harmful ultraviolet rays, a plus for people who want to limit exposure to the sun.
The whole installation process, from estimate to completion, can take as little as a week depending on the size of the project, the color and how busy the factory is.
“As a rule, spring time is the heavy time and fall comes in second place,” Matthew said.
During the summer, owners can leave patio furniture out with little worry. The patio covers are hail resistant.
“We are providing cover from whatever Mother Nature throws at you,” Matthew said.
