EVERETT — A woman died and a man was arrested following a crash on I-5 in Everett early Saturday morning.
Around midnight, two vehicles were parked on the southbound shoulder of I-5, just north of Highway 526.
The Stanwood woman, Jane Costello, 57, and a woman from Granite Falls, also 57, were standing nearby, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A driver, a 25-year-old Marysville man, reportedly veered into the shoulder and hit Costello and both of the vehicles. Costello died at the scene, the State Patrol said.
The other woman was hit by debris and taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The extent of her injuries was unknown.
The man was arrested for suspicion of vehicular homicide and booked into the Snohomish County Jail hours later.
