SNOHOMISH — Five teens may face drive-by shooting charges after two nights of attacks on a Snohomish home.
The gunfire — reportedly about a dozen shots — occurred late Thursday outside a home in the 400 block of 22nd Street. Close to 24 hours earlier, the same location was hit by somebody who broke out a vehicle’s window, ignited fireworks and tossed them inside.
Several bullets struck the home and vehicles parked outside.
“A residence directly behind the location also had bullet damage, including in the bedroom furniture where the children and family were sleeping. No injuries were reported,” said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigation of the fireworks incident already had led deputies to a 17-year-old from Snohomish. Deputies were conducting surveillance outside his home when they received reports of gunfire outside the 22nd Street address.
Witnesses described 10 to 12 shots being fired from a silver passenger vehicle.
Within five minutes, deputies stopped a vehicle matching that description. There were five young men inside.
Deputies spotted an assault-style rifle and spent shell casings. The 17-year-old suspected in the fireworks case also reportedly had a 9mm handgun.
The five were arrested for investigation of first-degree drive-by shooting and assault. The fireworks suspect also was being held for investigation of second-degree arson.
Two of the suspects are from Snohomish, ages 17 and 18. The rest are from Everett; two are 18 and one is 17.
