OLYMPIA — The state Supreme Court has ruled that the leader of the Ramtha School of Enlightenment, JZ Knight, had standing to oppose development near her school in Yelm.
The 7-2 ruling Thursday throws out a Court of Appeals ruling and affirms a Thurston County Superior Court ruling that found for Knight in 2008. Knight had opposed a plan to approve for 568 new homes because of unsecured water rights.
Knight has thousands of students who listen to her channel the spirit of an ancient warrior named Ramtha. She established her 80-acre school complex in 1988 in Yelm.
In 2004, the Ramtha school also opposed a proposal for a NASCAR racetrack in Yelm.
