Everett man who died in Mountain Loop motorcycle crash identified

BARLOW PASS — An Everett man who died Friday after crashing his motorcycle near Barlow Pass east of Verlot has been identified.

Carson Metcalfe, 21, crashed off the road around 6 p.m. Friday, near the intersection of the Mountain Loop Highway and the Monte Cristo Trail. Initial reports were that the man crashed into a rock wall near the trailhead to Gothic Basin, said Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Tom Morris.

Deputies arrived and started CPR, Morris said. They requested an airlift to take Metcalfe to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead and the airlift was canceled.

Metcalfe was riding by himself. At Cascade High School, he was a member of the National Honor Society who pitched and played infield on the baseball team, according to an online bio. Other hobbies he listed included skiing, camping and hiking.
