ARLINGTON — One person died in a small plane crash Friday near the Arlington Municipal Airport, according to authorities.
Just before 3 p.m., Arlington fire responded to reports of an ultralight plane crash at the airport’s northeast corner of runway 16-34, city spokesperson Mandy Kruger said.
Only one person, the pilot, was believed to be on board. No other injuries or fatalities were reported.
It remained an active investigation Friday.
Arlington authorities were in contact with the National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, the federal agency that investigates aviation crashes.
“At this time, no further details can be released as the investigation is ongoing,” city officials said in a press release. “The Arlington Police Department and Airport Operations would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
The crash came two months after a different ultralight plane went down at the municipal airport, leaving one person injured.
