SPOKANE —Authorities have identified the man they believe drowned at Palouse Falls on Sunday.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said James A. Hopkins, 22, of Lake Stevens, and two others were swimming near the base of the falls Sunday evening when they got into trouble.
The Spokesman-Review reported bystanders rescued two people in the group but emergency responders couldn’t find Hopkins.
A dive team was searching for his body but the search has been suspended due to dangerous water below the falls.
