LYNNWOOD — The Lynnwood City Council announced Monday the top eight candidates to fill its vacant seat after former Vice President Julieta Altamirano-Crosby resigned last month to serve as a commissioner for the Snohomish County Public Utility District.
The candidates are Forrest Baum, Nazanin Lashgari, Robert Leutwyler, Marie MacCoy, Jessica Roberts, Audrey Tanberg, Rebecca Thornton and Chelsea Wright.
The council received 19 applications for the open seat during the 18-day application window.
Two of the candidates, Lashgari and Leutwyler, have run for Lynnwood City Council before. Lashgari ran for a seat in 2019 and 2021, and Leutwyler in 2023.
During the week of Feb. 3, each council member rated the 19 applicants from 1 to 19, said Lynnwood City Clerk Luke Lonie, with 19 being most favorable and 1 being least favorable.
The council will interview the eight candidates who received the most points on Feb. 18. Interviews will take place in open session.
On Feb. 20, the council will make its final decision and appoint a new council member to the position.
