LYNNWOOD — A man allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend Sunday and then took their prematurely born 6-week-old son, according to Lynnwood police.
The assailant didn’t take the medications that needed to be given to the baby every four hours, according to court papers filed in Snohomish County Superior Court. Neither did he take any diapers or formula.
The man, 25, reportedly told police that he had been blinded by jealousy. His girlfriend said he had the same look on him whenever he became violent: blank, as if he were somewhere else.
He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first- and fourth-degree assault, harassment and criminal mistreatment of a child.
The woman said she had been at a bus stop earlier in the day, waiting for her boyfriend to give her and their baby a ride to their Lynnwood apartment. He wasn’t answering his phone, so she called a friend.
She was home for fewer than 10 minutes when she saw her boyfriend walking across the parking lot, reportedly with a revolver in his hand.
He spun the cylinder on the gun and reportedly pointed it at the woman, who was holding the baby, and her friend.
He was talking on the phone to someone. “I am going to kill these (expletive), both of them,” he said, according to court papers.
“I have our son, what are you doing,” the woman reportedly said.
“I don’t give a (expletive),” the man allegedly replied.
He punched her in the face, court papers say. She fled to the bedroom. He allegedly kicked open the door, grabbed the baby and fled in his SUV.
Tracking his phone, police found the man in Everett and arrested him. They didn’t find a revolver.
