Man, son injured in electrical accident in downtown Everett

They were using a mechanical lift, which touched a power line. The boy, 5, was in serious condition.

EVERETT — A man and his 5-year-old son were hospitalized Friday after an electrical accident in downtown Everett.

It happened around 1 p.m. in an alley near the intersection of Colby Avenue and California Street, according to the Everett Fire Department.

The pair were using a mechanical lift for an unknown reason. The lift touched power lines, officials said.

Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The boy had serious injuries. The father’s condition was not immediately clear.

There was an associated power outage in the area.
