When Publicola’s Josh Feit at Publicola first sniffed out Moxie Media’s unusual doings against state Sen. Jean Berkey in August, it seemed like he’d uncovered a potential story line of the election season.
And turns out he did.
Berkey is the Everett incumbent who lost the primary in large part because of attacks from the left and right coordinated by Moxie Media.
On Thursday, the state Public Disclosure Commission will consider a report alleging the Seattle consulting firm and its owner, Lisa MacLean, violated state law by not disclosing who funded two mailers and robocalls against the senator.
Feit and I have written a lot about this situation. So too has Erik Smith of Washington State Wire including a piece today on the mind-boggling maze of money flowing through 40 PACs created by MacLean.
Enterprise Washington, a group which spent some money in the primary on Berkey’s behalf, is also tracking the consulting firm’s activities. Their leaders put together a spread sheet of the firm’s ties with various PACs in this election. They sent it to me and I’ve attached it so you can check it out.
Tomorrow’s meeting can be viewed here once it starts.
