No arrests after Everett pedestrian struck, killed by car

EVERETT — An Everett man who died after being struck by a vehicle on Airport Road in Everett has been identified.

Mario Aguilar Velasquez, 40, of Everett, was crossing the street at an intersection in the 11900 block of Airport Road around 2:15 a.m. Saturday when a southbound black 2010 Lexus struck him., Everett Police officer Kerby Duncan said.

Aguilar Velasquez was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died of his injuries later that day.

Police believe the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the Lexus struck him, but the driver had a green light at the time and right-of-way to pass through the intersection.

As of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made. It did not appear drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, Duncan said.

The cause of death was blunt-force injuries, and the manner of death was an accident, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Monday.
