FORKS — Authorities are searching for a prisoner who escaped from a minimum-security work camp near Forks in northwest Washington.
Prison spokesman Chad Lewis said Sunday that 27-year-old Darby Maguire was discovered missing when staff at Olympic Corrections Center conducted a check at 8:20 p.m. Saturday. The prison was locked down, and officials are trying to determine how Maguire escaped. Maguire was convicted of three counts of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree robbery in Whatcom County. He began his prison sentence in January 2010. His term was scheduled to end July 2014.
In June, a 39-year-old James Russell tried to escape from the Olympic Corrections Center but was caught the next day.
