Truck rollover scatters lumber across I-5 on-ramp in Everett

No life-threatening injuries were reported by the Washington State Patrol.

EVERETT — A semi carrying a load of lumber rolled over and blocked two lanes of southbound I-5 Friday morning near Pacific Avenue after colliding with three cars, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. and caused a backup of at least four miles while slowing the morning commute.

There were injuries, but none were life-threatening.

The state patrol says a Mt. Vernon woman, 33, and a Camano Island man, 60,were hospitalized. The other two drivers were from Marysville and Lake Stevens. There were no passengers.

All vehicles were going south on I-5. A woman driving a Dodge Avenger reportedly made an illegal lane change.

She crashed into a Chevy Silverado. The Avenger spun out and hit two more vehicles, a Subaru Forester and the big truck, according to the state patrol.

That’s when the semi hit the guardrail, left the roadway and came to rest upside down next to the Pacific Avenue on-ramp.

Charges were pending as of Friday night.

Two lanes of southbound I-5 were closed for two hours. The Pacific Avenue on-ramp, which had wood scattered across it, was blocked for 11 hours.
