50 years ago (1964)
Everett Council, Knights of Columbus, recently presented a completely equipped mobile science laboratory for use by students at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. Sister M. Augustine accepted the gift on behalf of the school from Past Grand Knights Ted Dombeck and Mike Eberle.
Friends Pete Peterson and Richard Unruh completed Army basic training at Fort Ord this week. Their parents were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Unruh, all of Everett.
25 years ago (1989)
The Boeing Co. planned to buy nearly 200 acres of undeveloped land next to its Everett manufacturing plant for possible future expansion. The aerospace giant had agreed to pay John Fluke Mfg. Co. Inc. $21 million for the land north of the plant and south and west of Seaway Boulevard.
Winter was not only cold but it made a big mess. Chuck Davis, of Mukilteo, was employed by Community Transit to clean up 56 bus shelters around the county. Meanwhile Everett street sweepers were busy cleaning up more that 2,400 cubic yards of sand and salt the city dumped on is streets the past two weeks.
