Boy, 15, killed in south Everett shooting

Investigators believe a black sedan with silver or alloy rims fled the scene. They say the shooting was targeted.

EVERETT — A teen boy was killed after being shot multiple times Friday morning in south Everett, police said.

Just before 6:40 a.m., police were called to the 7700 block of Hardeson Road, Everett police officer Ora Hamel said. Officers found a boy, 15, with multiple gunshot wounds. The teen was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died.

Everett police were unsure if there were multiple shooters or just one.

Detectives believe the deceased knew the shooter or shooters. They believe the teenage boy was targeted. Hamel had no information about whether the gunfire was connected to a fatal drive-by shooting Thursday night in Snohomish.

Five people had also been wounded, one of them fatally, in a shooting late Monday at Lynndale Park, 18927 72nd Ave. W, about 9 miles south in Lynnwood. It was unclear if that shooting was connected, either, Hamel said.

Investigators believe a black sedan with silver or alloy rims fled the scene in the Hardeson Road case.

“This tragedy is the latest in a wave of shooting and firearm-related incidents in our city as well as throughout the county,” Police Chief Dan Templeman said in a press release Friday afternoon. “The Everett Police Department will dedicate all the resources necessary to vigorously investigate this case and bring justice to the family of this child. If you have any information that could help us identify and locate the suspects, please report it immediately.”

Anyone with information on the shooting can report details to the police department’s tip line at 425-257-8450.

Southbound traffic on Hardeson Road was closed Friday morning at Veralene Way while police investigated. Northbound traffic was being diverted at 74th Street SE.
