EVERETT — Influenza has killed two Snohomish County residents, the county health department announced Monday, marking the first deaths of the 2024-2025 flu season.
Last year’s flu season claimed the lives of seven people. Respiratory viruses can result in severe illnesses, especially for young children, older adults, and people who are immunocompromised, the health department said in a press release Monday.
The annual flu vaccine is recommended for everyone age six months and older. Vaccination reduces the number of sick days taken from work and school, reduces the severity of flu symptoms and reduces the chance of hospitalization, the department said..
