SEATTLE — Officials say a Puget Sound beach in Seattle has reopened after an estimated 165,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the water last week.
The Seattle Times reported Monday that the beach at Golden Garden Park was back open.
Seattle Public Utilities says water tests Monday showed that the water is once again safe for contact.
Seattle Public Utilities spokeswoman Sabrina Register says the overflow was caused by a blockage made up of tree roots and materials like wipes. She says wipes and material other than toilet paper should not be flushed.
