Charging same rate for water, sewer unfair to some

In response to a recent letter to the editor regarding the Alderwood Water District’s rates and the author’s proposal to charge the same free for water and wastewater: I am an Alderwood Water customer with an on-site septic system.

I challenge the author’s assertion that it would be “extremely fair for there to be an equal charge for water usage and sewer dumpage.”

Increasing the cost of water solely to offset wastewater treatment costs seems unfair for those of us who already work and pay to manage our own wastewater.
