The Everett Silvertips have announced they will hold their 2016-17 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Xfinity Arena against the Vancouver Giants.
The two teams begin the regular season the night prior at the Giants’ new home at the Langley Events Center.
From the Tips press release:
The Silvertips are 6-5-1-1 in home openers, all-time and defeated the Spokane Chiefs, 5-4 in sudden death overtime last season to open the regular season home schedule at XFINTY Arena.
Everett secured a record of 4-2-0-0 in last year’s head-to-head series, spanning six games and won two of three games at XFINITY Arena, the most recent home win occurring on Dec. 5, 2015. Four of six games were decided by one goal. Currently, three players combined between the Silvertips (Carter Hart) and Vancouver (Tyler Benson and Ty Ronning) attended the NHL Entry Draft Combine, which invited 114 of the top players from around the world eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft.
