If nothing else, John Madden was verbose

What I remember most about John Madden as a sports commentator was his verbosity. If a picture is worth a thousand words, and even though, through the miracle of television one got to witness the play and multiple replays, Madden ensured that he used at least a 1,001 words to describe the play.
