In face of layoffs, reader, 87, sticking with The Herald

A few years ago, I sent a letter to the editor stating that even though your readership was down I planned on sticking with you. I love The Herald. It has been in my home from the time I was a child. I can’t remember a time when it wasn’t. I even had a subscription when I lived in Texas.

These new layoffs do not bode well for us. What does a big corporation in the Southeast, or wherever, know or care about Everett, Wash.? Nothing! If they decide we are not “making them enough profit,” they will move on, and leave us with a stripped newspaper business.

I will continue to support The Everett Herald the best I can. But if this new company thinks I will not notice the difference, they are mistaken. By the way, when I say The Herald has been in my life, my whole life, I was born in Everett. I am 87 years old.

I will hope for a better solution than all of those layoffs.
