Regarding the quote from the Everett Herald’s new ownership group Canso Investment Counsel, Deans Knight Capital Management, and Carpenter Media Group stating that readers will not notice the difference in the paper after layoffs, I want to let you know that my wife and I have.
We have noticed that there are far fewer articles about local news, and far fewer articles written by Herald staff. This is not what we intended to purchase when we subscribed, and will be unsubscribing as well as requesting a pro-rated refund.
If it helps, I want the Herald staff and other local journalists to know that if they decided to start and run their own paper, we would be interested in supporting such an endeavor. I encourage fellow readers to join me in standing up to money hoarders who think they know how to do things well just because they own money. Investing and prioritizing profits is antithetical to doing things correctly, honestly and honorably.
