I am writing in support of the Marysville School District levy election. I live in Marysville, am employed by the school district, and have two successful grown children educated through Marysville schools. I now have my first grandchild attending school in Marysville.
Marysville School District has so many qualified and caring staff. There are so many opportunities for growth and success for our students. The levy monies are vital to the continued success of our schools.
I am concerned that many Marysville residents are not aware of the impact to our community if the levy does not pass. Our school district will be bankrupt.
Studies show that schools that are fully funded have greater success, and our community benefits as a whole. Sports, clubs, fine arts programs, free lunches and caring staff keep kids in school.
If the levy fails again, our home values will decline. Crime rates, gang activities, drug use, and teenage pregnancies all rise when kids are not engaged in school.
The students of today will be making the decisions for tomorrow. Choose wisely.
