The reactions to the Supreme Court draft opinion regarding Roe v. Wade seem quite ironic. Have people forgotten the past two years when they ridiculed, attacked and censored those who didn’t want to inject an experimental drug into their body, even ignoring the claim of “my body, my choice.” Many were relentless and self-righteous in their assault against people simply wanting to exercise their own health freedom.
Now, these same people are running around in a tizzy, having tantrums because the government is poised to do to their health freedom what they encouraged the government to do to others. Now they get a taste of their own bitter medicine. They get to experience the consequences of empowering government overreach. What they’re now feeling, others have been feeling for years.
This is what hypocrisy looks like and what it leads to. And the sad part is, many people will not recognize the cruel irony: They’re too busy telling others how to live their lives. Abraham Lincoln warned, “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” A little self-awareness would go a long way.
