I read about the new federal budget proposed by the billionaire president of the United States. Why do I think this sounds like a budget proposal from a third world country? Because a Third World country cannot take care of its people.
If the president has his way, the SNAP program will be cut by almost $200 billion, refundable tax credits will be rolled back, and this is on top of the House of Representatives passing the health care bill that will cut hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid.
What’s behind these cutbacks to the poor? The opportunity to pass along those same cutbacks to the rich. If you’re rich enough, you will be entitled to be even richer. These are not the American ideals that I know and love. America is not a poor country, and all Americans should be entitled to good health care, enough food and a way out of poverty.
Everyone, please join me in the fight to prevent the poor from getting even poorer. We are one country and we should be one for all people, not just the rich.
