Why doesn’t GOP show interest in investigating Capitol siege?

So now we see that Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is demanding “a full congressional investigation into the origins of covid-19; and into any and all efforts to prevent a full accounting.” While at the same time, he and his fellow Republicans did not support an investigation into the origins of the Capitol riot of Jan. 6.

As bad as the Covid-19 virus has been (and still is), the long-term worldwide impact that it will have pales in comparison to the risk we now face of losing this great democracy of ours, that has been, and hopefully will continue to be, a beacon of hope for so many worldwide over the years (in case anyone forgets that most all of us “Americans” came from immigrant lineage).

Shame on this variant GOP. My parents, staunch Republicans of old, would be appalled by their behavior and outright disregard for the institution of democracy that their generation fought so hard to preserve against a world of other tyrants of the day.
