A five-bedroom, 3.5-bath two-story in Monroe is our featured resale home this week.

It was built in 1986, remodeled during the past three years, and is on a 1.5-acre view lot that includes a detached one-bedroom mother-in-law unit. The unit’s 1,000 square-feet floor plan includes a full kitchen, a bathroom and a living room.

The main home’s front door opens to a foyer with oak flooring. To the immediate right is a short hall accessing a den with vaulted cathedral ceiling and gas fireplace with tile hearth and surround.

A bedroom suite is at the opposite end of the hall. Highlights of the suite’s bedroom include three double closets with mirrored bifold doors, a walk-in closet, a glass door accessing a partially covered backyard deck with hot tub, and four windows overlooking territorial, city and mountain views.

Features of the suite’s five-piece bathroom include tile flooring, a long double vanity topped with tile, a deep soaker tub with tile surround, and a large walk-in shower with tile floor and surround.

A second hall off the foyer has oak flooring and accesses a half bathroom with tile floor and pedestal sink. At the end of this hall, a French door opens to the backyard deck.

A great-room is positioned directly ahead of the foyer and incorporates an island-design kitchen, a living room and a formal dining room. All areas have oak flooring.

Highlights of the living room include oak flooring, a vaulted cathedral ceiling with four skylights, an angled wall of windows facing the view, and a gas fireplace with faux river rock hearth and surround.

The kitchen has light-oak cabinets, granite slab countertops, a large center island with a five-burner gas cooktop and a breakfast bar, a view window above the sink, and a door with outside access.

The formal dining room has two walls of view windows.

Steps away from the kitchen are a utility room with outside access, a bedroom or home office with Berber carpet and a standard closet, and a full bathroom with oak flooring and a shower-tub combination.

A wide staircase at the back of the house ascends to the second level, which includes the remaining bedrooms and a full bathroom.

The bedrooms have pale neutral plush carpeting and double closets. One of the bedrooms is at the back of the house and has view windows.

The home has gas forced-air heat with air conditioning, and surround sound, central vacuum and security systems.
