This week’s featured new home is a four-bedroom, two- and one-half bath two-story with den or home office, bonus room and three-car garage.

Located in the Westcastle subdivision near the Snohomish-King County border near Canyon Park in Bothell, the home – dubbed “The Cambridge” – is on a 9,600 square feet lot that includes mature evergreens in the back yard.

Entrance is gained through a wood paneled front door flanked by leaded glass vertical windows and an insert window to a foyer decked with birch hardwood flooring.

Paned-glass French doors open to the home office, positioned to the immediate left. The room includes Craftsman-style chair railing and extra-thick baseboards, and a vaulted ceiling augmented by a drop-down pendant light fixture.

The living room ceiling extends 18 feet to the second level. Upper and lower level wood-wrapped windows provide abundant light.

An arched opening supported by twin columns leads to the formal dining room, which has a coffered ceiling and crown molding.

Steps away, an island-design kitchen benefits from slab granite countertops, hardwood flooring, alder-paneled cabinets with crown molding, ceramic tile backsplashes, a walk-in pantry with frosted glass door, and stainless steel appliances including a five-burner gas cooktop complemented by a built-in wall oven and microwave.

Adjacent to the kitchen, an informal dining nook provides a buffer between the kitchen and family rooms, creating an extended, open living space. Sliders open to an oversized patio overlooking a large back yard.

The family room’s focal point is a raised-hearth gas fireplace trimmed with slate stone and topped with a wood mantel. Above, a built-in decorator niche provides space for art or a television.

A staircase lined with wrought iron balusters extends upstairs to the home’s sleeping quarters. At the top of the stairs, French doors open to a suite with a bedroom large enough to accommodate several dressers or a sitting area.

The suite is complemented by a five-piece bathroom and walk-in wardrobe closet lined with storage shelves on three walls.

The bathroom has a ceramic tile floor, double vanity topped with tile, a corner soaker tub encased in a ceramic tile deck and surround beneath two privacy windows, a freestanding shower with tile surround and glass enclosure, and a private toilet room.

Three additional bedrooms are oriented toward the front, side and rear yards and serviced by a full bath and a convenient upstairs laundry room.

French doors open to a large bonus room with vaulted ceiling, clerestory window and two drop-down, pendant-style light fixtures.
