EVERETT — Wednesday evening Everett AquaSox pitcher Tyler Cleveland was recognized for his defensive excellence.
Cleveland was presented with his 2023 Rawlings Gold Glove Award prior to Wednesday’s game against the Eugene Emeralds at Funko Field.
Cleveland, who spent the 2023 season with Modesto of the Low-A California League, handled 42 chances without committing an error during 136 2/3 innings over 25 games. The Gold Glove was given to just one pitcher in all of Minor League Baseball.
The 24-year-old Cleveland, who hails form East End, Arkansas, was a 14th-round selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2022 draft. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-hander has appeared in two games with the Sox this season, allowing two runs in 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts.
