Cedarpark Christian coach gets big win

LA CONNER – Jeff Luckey had a great day, hitting a double and a home run for the Eagles. So did Eric Esau who finished 3-for-5 with a double.

But neither had as great a day as their coach Stan Taloff, who walked off the field Wednesday with his 400th win as a high school baseball coach following Cedar Park Christian’s 7-6 win in nine innings over La Conner in a non-league game.

This is Taloff’s fourth season with the Eagles, having led them to league championships three years running, and winning state championships in both 2002 and 2003. He has been named the conference’s coach of the year all four years.

Taloff started his coaching career at Shoreline High School in 1976, and had a brief stint as Shoreline’s Athletic Director in 1980. He coached football and baseball for Shoreline until 1986.

While coaching baseball at Shorecrest High School (1986-1998) Taloff was inducted into the Washington State Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Trailing 4-2, Cedar Park Christian scored five runs in the game’s final five innings to win the game.

Cedar Park is currently second in the Emerald City League.
