The Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame’s class of 2023 will be inducted at the organization’s annual banquet on Sept. 27 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett. Here’s the first in a series of bios of the 2023 class highlighted by The Herald:

Seamus Boxley

High school: Mountlake Terrace class of 2000

Sport: Men’s basketball

Boxley, a 6-foot-7 power forward, excelled on the court at the high school, college and professional levels.

In high school, Boxley was named the Wesco Player of the Year as a senior in 2000, as he captained the Hawks to a perfect 20-0 record during the regular season and an appearance at the Class 3A state tournament.

In college, Boxley starred at Portland State, where he was named the 2001 Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year, was a two-time Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year and was a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection. He capped his college career by being named the Big Sky Player of the Year in 2005, when he averaged 20.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game in leading the Vikings to their first Big Sky championship.

Boxley followed that with a 11-year professional career played primarily in Europe. His greatest highlights came from 2008-12 when he played for Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden of the Dutch Basketball League. He was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2012, was a four-time All-Star, and led the team to both the Dutch Basketball League championship and the Dutch Super Cup championship in 2011. In 2013 he was named the Austrian league’s MVP when playing for the Oberwart Gunners.

Boxley was inducted into the Portland State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 and into the Mountlake Terrace Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
