Hot tickets: Four prep events to keep an eye on this week

Prep sports events to keep an eye on this week as the postseason gets underway:

Boys and girls basketball: 4A Wes-King Bi-District Tournaments, at various sites. In a change from the separate district tournaments of recent years, the top five Wesco 4A seeds and top seven KingCo 4A seeds square off in a 12-team tournament to determine the bi-district’s five state berths. The girls tournament begins with loser-out play-in games Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals on Saturday. On the boys side, the play-in games are Friday and the quarterfinals are Saturday.

Boys and girls basketball: 3A Northwest District Tournaments, various sites. The girls tournament begins Wednesday with loser-out play-in games, followed by the quarterfinals on Friday. The boys tournament tips off with play-in contests Thursday and the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Boys wrestling: 3A Region 1 Tournament, 11 a.m. Saturday at Snohomish H.S. Regional wrestling tournaments take place across the state this weekend, with the top four finishers in each weight class advancing to the Feb. 15-16 Mat Classic. The lone regional held in Snohomish County consists of teams from the Wesco 3A North and Pierce County League, plus Ferndale and Squalicum from the Northwest Conference.

Boys swim and dive: 4A and 3A Northwest District finals, Saturday at Snohomish Aquatic Center. After cruising to the Wesco South crown with a perfect record in dual meets, state powerhouse Kamiak aims for its second consecutive outright 4A district title. The battle for the 3A district crown figures to be tightly contested between Shorewood, Shorecrest and Edmonds-Woodway. The 4A district finals begin at 10 a.m., followed by the 3A district finals at 4 p.m.
