CLASS 2A District 1 Doubles Invite

SEHOME — Archbishop Murphy’s Cole Balen and Ethan Welter claimed first place at the second annual 2A District 1 Doubles Invite.

Balen and Welter beat a team from Anacortes 7-5, 6-7, 10-6 in the title match and also earned wins over teams from Burlington-Edison, Anacortes and Bellingham. Balen, who placed seventh at the 2A doubles state tournament last season, won the first edition of invite last fall alongside brother Sean.

DARRINGTON — Claire Wright had 10 kills, eight digs and two aces, Allie Cochran added 13 digs and five aces, and the Loggers cruised to a 25-7, 25-10, 25-11 sweep of Thorp.

Ciela Dewberry had 22 assists and three kils and Gracie Ross eight digs, two aces and two kills for Darrington (5-1).

Thorp dropped to 0-5.

Lake Stevens 3, Lake Washington 0

KIRKLAND — Laura Eichert had 19 kills, six aces, four blocks and six digs in the Vikings’ 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of the Kangaroos.

Jayci Scrivens posted 10 kills, five digs and two aces, Olivia Gonzales added 11 digs and two aces and Alyss Kelly chipped in 15 digs for Lake Stevens (3-2).

Lake Washington fell to 3-1.
