The Everett Silvertips announced on Wednesday that they signed Michal Gut, their lone selection in the 2019 Canadian Hockey League import draft, to a Western Hockey League standard player agreement.
Gut, 16, posted 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 33 games for the Pirati Chomutov U19 team and 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) in 25 international games with the Czech Republic’s under-17 squad.
“He looks like a good, young two-way centerman that can grow with our young group here,” Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson said after drafting Gut. “We were hoping we can land a centerman and this guy can play any position.”
The Czech forward will join Martin Fasko-Rudas as the Silvertips’ other import player. Fasko-Rudas recorded 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games for Everett last season.
