KENNEWICK – Riley Armstrong scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Everett Silvertips a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night in Western Hockey League play.

Armstrong scored his eighth goal of the season three minutes, 54 seconds into the five-minute overtime on an assist from John Dahl. Jeff Harvey earned the win in goal for Everett, making 32 saves.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Everett (14-13-4-1), which remained in fourth place in the U.S. Division. Tri-City, first in the U.S. Division, fell to 17-13-5-2.

Mitch Love gave Everett a 1-0 lead at 15:39 of the first period. It was Love’s fourth goal of the season.

Tri-City tied it at 5:49 of the second period on a power-play goal by Ryan Kinasewich, his 22nd of the season.

Everett retook the lead at 9:01 of the third period on Dahl’s team-leading 11th goal of the season.

However, Kinasewich tied it again, this time with a short-handed goal at 13:45.

Tri-City goalie Carey Price made 26 saves in a losing effort.

Everett’s struggles on the power play continued as the Tips went 0-for-4 with the advantage. Tri-City was 1-for-3 on the power play.

Everett and Tri-City play again tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the Everett Events Center. The game is Everett’s last before the Christmas break.
