Students save turtles on learning adventure

A dozen students from Scriber Lake High School in Lynnwood journeyed to Costa Rica in May for a learning adventure.

Working with Poulsbo-based EcoTeach, the students learned more about leatherback sea turtles and helped to protect their beach nesting grounds. They also met local indigenous tribes and learned about reforestation efforts.

The trip’s $28,000 price tag came from students’ own paychecks, coffee sales and donations, including help from the local Rotary Club and Edmonds Exchange Club.
