MARYSVILLE — A 31-year-old man was found dead in his Marysville home Wednesday night after a standoff with a police SWAT team.

The man appeared to have died from self-inflicted injuries, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said on Thursday.

The incident began after the man left his home in the 8300 block of 76th Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. An officer attempted to pull over his car, but the suspect reportedly sped away. He was wanted on suspicion of arson and illegal possession of a firearm.

The suspect returned to his home in Marysville. His father, who also lives at the house, ran outside and told police his son had a shotgun.

At one point, the suspect stood on the front porch and yelled at officers. Police shot him with a less-lethal rubber bullet in an attempt to take him into custody, Lamoureux said.

SWAT teams entered the home after 11:30 p.m. They found the man dead, Lamoureux said.

The Snohomish County medical examiner is expected to confirm the man’s identification and determine the cause and manner of his death.
