Penny ‘K’ dedicated to community

When we moved our family to Monroe several years ago, the very first person we met in the city was Penny Sopris-Keggereis who was running the Monroe Chamber of Commerce. We had stopped at that office for information on community businesses and schools.
Penny “K” was very friendly and outgoing and willingly shared a great deal of information and much of her time with us. My husband and I left the office feeling very comfortable with the choice we had made in moving to Monroe. We both wondered why she was not the mayor of the city because she was so dedicated to Monroe. We still think she would be a great mayor.
Not too long after we got settled, we found she was a writer for the Monroe Monitor and she was the reason we read the paper. We wish she was still writing because her contributions and great sense of humor are sorely missed.
We feel she is doing a great job on the city council and more than that we feel she is one of this community’s unsung heroes or treasures. Where could you possibly find a more honest, up front, capable person to serve – one who would be equally dedicated to this community?
